One Step A La Vez (OSALV) is a non-profit, 501c3, teen advocacy agency that serves the isolated minority populations of the Santa Clarita Valley, specifically the communities of Fillmore and Piru. 

Our mission is to serve the communities of Santa Clarita Valley by providing a safe environment for 13-19 year olds and preparing informed, empowered youth who are equipped with the tools to lead, cultivate cultural awareness, bridge the gaps of inequality and advocate for fair, just and healthy individuals and communities

What is The One Step Center (OSC)?  

  • A teen drop-in and wellness center
  • Ages 13-19 welcome!
  • A welcoming environment where youth can come after school and meet with friends, play video games, read, complete homework, use the computer lab, make a snack, chat, or just be
  • Assistance with homework - tutoring available
  • Referrals to one-on-one counseling for teens that have identified a problem such as grief, anger management, sexual abuse, chronic stress, substance abuse, family violence, etc.
  • Get support with college preparation and registration, scholarship writing, and other career guidance services
  • Leadership training through participation in the Youth Leadership Board that coordinates activities for the One Step a la Vez Center.
  • Social Justice Committees - advocate and organize to bring changes and improve our community:
    • Transportation
    • House Farm Workers Fillmroe City Group
    • Social Equality Club
    • Pride Project Support Group (LGBTQ+ youth)
    • Environmental Justice
  • Mentoring and peer to peer support
  • Community Food Distribution -  youth prepare and distribute Food Share produce on the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays  each month at 4 PM.
